Osteopathy, homeopathy and acupuncture have been integral parts of our treatment methods since the launch of the clinic in it's current form in 1998. Please call us on 020 7723 0453 for more information or to book an appointment.
Osteopathy has been a very important influence in Andrew's approach to medicine and health since he had postgraduate training at the British School of Osteopathy in the late 80's and he has worked closely with osteopaths since then. Nadine Hobson has been the clinic's resident osteopath since 1998. and together they continue to teach osteopaths who want to work with animals. We take referrals and second opinions from a wide area, and find that the gentle techniques of osteopathy are of enormous benefit to a very wide range of cases.
Homeopathy is certainly more controversial, but we use it both on it's own and alongside more conventional treatment, for one reason only: that our clinical experience is that the right remedy for the right case can have a very significant impact on an animal's state of health and well-being. It has been around as a system of medicine for over 200 years and even the NHS has human homeopathic teaching hospitals in London (Gt Ormond St), Glasgow, Bristol, Tunbridge Wells and Liverpool. Lise Hansen is our resident veterinary homeopath and acupuncturist.
Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years as a key element of traditional Chinese medicine. In western medicine, needles or finger pressure to stimulate or sedate acupuncture points and meridians around the body is used more commonly to influence pain sensation, muscle tone and blood flow to body organs. It is widely accepted and used within veterinary medicine, particularly in the management of arthritic and spinal pain.
Our use of these systems of medicine is based on years of practical experience, and our approach is to combine them with the best of modern medicine and surgery as appropriate: our clinicians are established experts with long experience in the treatment of animals.
