Feeding
The premium brand tinned foods are a good alternative, but we suggest you change brands regularly and talk to us about suitable nutritional supplements to compensate for the nutritional loss associated with cooking and preservation. Dry diets are certainly convenient and economical, and come in a huge variety of types, flavours and constituents for every conceivable health and nutritional need. There is concern that some animals do not take in enough water when on a dry diet and that the carbohydrate content is higher than would be natural for a carnivore. It is also easy for them to over eat, with obvious consequences. A combination of all three feeding methods is often the most practical solution. |

Raw food feeding is good for most pets: a diet of raw chicken, lamb, beef or turkey, either on the bone or in large chunks, ideally mixed with some raw liquidised vegetable has many health benefits. It is close to a carnivore's natural diet, matches their nutritional requirements and helps to keep their teeth clean. In addition, it provides 'work' for the digestive system and through the effort required to eat it, helps prevent over-eating and obesity. We will be happy to discuss and recommend how to introduce at least some raw food into your pet's diet.
