Diagnostics
The clinic has sophisticated diagnostic equipment installed to help us establish diagnoses accurately and quickly. We have the equipment for radiography, blood cell counts and biochemical screening, urine and stool samples, hair & skin tests, cytology and electrocardiography (ECG).

Surgery & Anaesthesia
For safe anaesthesia, we use a combination of human-grade agents, and all patients are carefully monitored both manually and using electronic instruments such as Pulse Oximetry and End Tidal Carbon Dioxide flow meters. The operating theatres are equipped for dental surgery, general surgery such as neutering, hernia repair or tumour removal, and for trauma repair including orthopaedics (bone fracture repairs). Electrosurgery and Cryosurgery are available whenever required.

Grooming
We are now able to offer a full professional dog grooming service. No more excuses for scruffy mutts! Our groomer is available by appointment for bathing, clipping, hand stripping, brushing out, trimming - just let us know the style of grooming you would like. Cat grooming to trim excessive undercoat and remove matted hair is also available on weekdays. Please phone Reception for details.

Pet Travel Sceme, International Travel Documents and Microchip Identification
International travel with pets is becoming easier, but most countries still require some documentation. The Pet Travel Scheme allows dogs and cats to re-enter the UK without going through quarantine after travelling to certain eligible countries - see the DEFRA website for more information. We can help you acquire all the documents required, but advise all our clients considering travel to contact DEFRA, the travel company (eg British Airways) and the embassy of the destination country at least 2 months before travel, to leave plenty of time for the formalities. For the Pet Travel Scheme, Cats and dogs must have: i) microchip identification ii) rabies vaccination iii) had a blood test taken AT LEAST 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE DATE OF ENTRY INTO THE UK to show that they have sufficient antibodies against the rabies virus iv) a PETS Re-entry certificate confirming all the above v) a certificate of parasite treatment given by a vet between 24 and 48 hours before the departure time for the UK. vi) a declaration signed by the owner stating that the pet has not been outside of the qualifying countries in the 6 months preceding the date of UK entry. It seems all a bit long winded and daunting the first time around, but it does then allow easy travel in and out of the UK from then on. Ask us for more details - we'd be happy to help.

Complementary Medicine, Integrated Medicine
At the Hyde Park Veterinary Centre, we practice Integrated Medicine. This means that we take a very broad approach to health and disease. You will find that we use the latest advances in modern medicine and surery alongside a deep commitment to disciplines such as homoeopathy, acupuncture, and osteopathy. Our experience over many years is that these systems of medicine can and do complement each other very effectively for the benefit of our patients. By bringing them together in one clinic, we can use them separately or simultaneously, allowing a powerful and natural symbiosis to develop. See section Integrated Vets
